A new generation of Dubai hotels

Sheikh Mohammed’s relentless pursuit of architectural predominance has meant that for most people hotels in Dubai mean big, flashy and brash. So-called seven star hotels and vertginously tall skyscrapers towering over Dubai’s white sandy beaches. Yet there are signs that Dubai’s tourism industry is beginning to branch out and diversify. An number of smaller,low-rise Dubai hotels have opened recently, and they could not be further removed from the idee recue of Dubai hotels. Rather than gaudy opulence of some Dubai hotels, the XVA gallery’s half a dozen rooms are tastefully decorated in classic Arabian style.
